My photograph “Self Portrait with Mother” has been selected for Overcoming — What Remains Standing, a juried exhibition at Decagon Gallery, on view online.
The exhibition was juried by Douglas Beasley and invites photographers to submit work about survival, resilience, and what remains after hardship, whether personal loss, illness, grief, displacement, or the passage of difficult time. The work spans documentary and staged approaches, abstract and portrait, raw and quiet, united by honesty rather than a single visual style.
In her curator’s statement, Teona Machavariani writes about being let into deeply personal parts of strangers’ lives through their photographs and stories, and how that process of sharing often reflects something back onto our own. She describes hoping viewers might find something they need in the work, even a quiet reminder that they, too, will make it through.
The full exhibition is on view at Decagon Gallery, and the catalog is available from Blurb.
