This series, made during a documentary portraiture class, includes images taken at Coney Island and the Bronx Halloween Parade. My definition of portraiture extends beyond individuals to include portraits of a neighborhood. While my work often explores my fears of others, holding the camera placed me in the unsettling role of observer and even intruder. The act felt invasive but echoed my broader practice—confronting fear by moving toward it, even when that fear lies in the act of looking itself.
