I captured these photographs as a way to examine the stillness and vulnerability of New York during the pandemic. In an emptied Times Square or among unhoused individuals in parks and on sidewalks, these works document eerie beauty, disorientation, and quiet resilience. Stripped of their usual rhythms, the city’s spaces reveal the human capacity to endure. Whether isolated in a crowd or alone in a field, these figures embody both surrender and survival in altered urban landscapes. These titles correspond to the nearest street addresses to locations in Central Park or Midtown Manhattan.

Halloween
This series includes images taken at NYC’s annual Halloween Parade. My definition of portraiture extends beyond individuals to include portraits of neighborhoods. While my work often explores my fears of others, holding the camera places me in the unsettling role of observer and even intruder. This act can feel invasive but echoes my broader practice—confronting fear by moving toward it, even when that fear lies in the act of looking itself.
Coney Island
This series includes images taken at Coney Island’s amusement park during the summer of 2024 in a blistering heatwave.
